Document metadata FAQs
What document metadata can I view?
You can see author/company fields, title/subject/keywords, creation/modified dates, producer/creator apps, revision/manager fields, and custom properties for PDFs and Office files.
Do you change the document when reading metadata?
No. The viewer only reads properties and XMP/info dictionaries—content, pages, and comments are not modified.
Why are some fields empty in my document?
If author, company, or custom properties were never set—or were cleared by an export—we surface everything available, but empty fields mean there was nothing to read.
Can I see PDF permissions or conformance flags?
Yes. If present, we surface PDF/A indicators and security/permission-related flags so you know how the document can be used.
Do you list template or application identifiers?
Template names and creator/producer apps are shown when embedded, helping you track how the file was generated.
